About Carlina Valenti
Carlina Valenti is a native Long Islander and, for as long as she can remember, art has been a major interest in her life. The ability to draw came naturally and she practiced painting and drawing constantly, eventually majoring in art at Syracuse University.
She has worked full-time in the commercial art field for over 30 years, and has spent the same amount of leisure time developing her self-taught watercolor skills.
Her paintings are meticulously rendered realism, loaded with detail. Both photographs and still life set-ups are used and scrutinized to determine the subject matter’s interactions of color, shape, highlight and shadow, and as much of this information as possible (or necessary) is put into each painting, creating a work that is a faithful representation of the subject.
Her work has been accepted in numerous juried competitions, both local and national, garnering many awards, and is in private and corporate collections nationwide. She is a member of the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club and the American Artists Professional League and has had group exhibits of her paintings in 1993, 1996 and 1999 in Gallery East in East Hampton, NY. She is currently represented by Gallery North, Setauket, NY, Francesca Anderson Fine Art, Lexington, MA and Trapani Art, Manhasset , NY.
